Meet Laurie

about laurie sm

I love photography! It has been part of my life since I was a young girl. My grandfather and I shared a special bond because of our mutual love for photography. As a teenager, he loaned me his prized Minolta 35mm film camera to take on a trip to Europe. At the same time, my eccentric high school photography teacher inspired me to the point of falling in love with creating photographs. It was then that I discovered how much I loved photography and knew then that one day it would be a larger part of my life.

Through the years of raising 4 beautiful children with a loving, supportive husband, photography was always at the forefront of my mind. As the kids grew up and I had more time for photography, more and more opportunities came my way and I was able to develop this passion into a professional portrait studio. Today I operate a home-based studio and continue to educate myself to stay ahead of the ever-evolving craft.

When asked what my “specialty” is, I really can’t say because I love it all.  It’s something new every day.  A new way of seeing the world around me.  A new smile or new personality.  A new moment. What speaks to my heart, though, is the laughter of a child, the tender look in an expectant mom’s eyes, the sweet peace of a sleeping newborn baby, special moments shared on a wedding day. I love it when my clients see their proofs for the first time and smile, laugh, or cry. Although moments I capture with the camera are gone forever, you will always be able to relive those moments each time you look at your portraits. My goal is to create those beautiful moments that connect you with the past and bring a smile to your face in the present.

I look forward to making your beautiful portraits!
